Life member Glenn A. Saighman, 89, of Silo Hill Farm, Bates City, Missouri, passed away October 8, 2010. After graduation from Paseo High School in Kansas City in 1941, he went to work for Remington Arms Inc (Independence). Not long after, he entered the U.S. Navy stationed in Panama and Nicaragua during WWII as a Ship's Cook 1st Class, a skill he mastered by growing up in his parents' KC restaurants. Eventually returning to the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, he retired as an Engineer/Inspector with 38 years from DuPont. In addition, he worked at Spacecraft Campers in the 60's & 70's. Glen was a member of the Ararat Shrine, 32nd Degree Mason, VFW-Post 30 in Blue Springs, BSA Mic-O-Say, and Oak Grove Youth Rodeo Club. He is survived by his wife, Nadine, of the home; children: Alan Saighman & his wife Lou Ann of Blue Springs, Mo & Cmdr (USN retired) Kevin Saighman & his wife Linda of Pensacola, FL: step-children Roberta Gipson & her husband David of Oak Grove, Chief Master Sgt (USAF retired) Richard Humphrey & his wife Julia of Abilene, TX, Joe Humphrey & his wife Debbie of Blue Springs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. |
